Now that Sam Wilson is Captain America, he seems to be the most likely candidate to assemble the new Avengers in the MCU; however, there are still several Avengers he hasn’t met. It’s no surprise that not every hero has met every other hero in the modern MCU, given how wide the franchise has grown, but the next Avengers team leader will still need some report with his core allies. In that regard, Sam still has a long way to go.

Before becoming Captain America, Sam Wilson was introduced as Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This means Sam has been around since Phase 2 of the MCU, yet he somehow still needs to meet a lot of his potential teammates. Sam has largely interacted with the original Captain America, Steve Rogers, and the heroes closest to him. The closest he came to meeting all the Avengers was during the Captain America: Civil War fight, but there were still some notable absences. Sam will have to meet these important heroes before he can get his new Avengers team fully together.

10 Doctor Strange Hasn’t Been In Many Crossovers

Doctor Strange Was Introduced In Doctor Strange 2016

Doctor Strange hasn’t made too many MCU appearances, at least not compared to some of the older heroes. The only big event movies he was in were Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, during which he never directly interacted with either Captain America. The only indication that the two may have met at some point is that they both attended Tony Stark’s funeral, but there is no on-screen interaction to prove that.

9 Star-Lord Only Recently Came Back To Earth

Star-Lord Was Introduced In Guardians Of The Galaxy 2014

After the Guardians parted ways at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Star-Lord is the only one who made his way to Earth. This would make him the most likely candidate to join the new Avengers, especially with actors like Dave Bautista confirming their MCU days are over for now. Knowing Peter Quill, he will likely want the legendary Star-Lord to be part of the Avengers, but he will have to make sure Sam Wilson knows he exists first.

8 Captain Marvel Spends Most Of Her Time In Space

Captain Marvel Was Introduced In Captain Marvel 2019

Captain Marvel is one of the characters it makes the most sense for Sam not to have met. Carol spends most of her time off Earth, and when she was working with the Avengers in Endgame, Sam was still blipped out. If the new Avengers is going to be led by Captain America, it is likely that Nick Fury will make a point to give Sam her beeper.

7 Thor Probably Should Have Met Sam By Now

Thor Was Introduced In Thor 2011

The most shocking Avenger Sam Wilson hasn’t met yet is Thor. Thor has been around since Phase 1, and Sam even attended a party with him back in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Still, the two are never seen interacting. When it comes time for the Avengers to hang out and try to lift Mjölnir, Sam isn’t around anymore. Sam has been around Thor during several battles, but the two haven’t exchanged so much as a quip between them in the 10 years since Sam was introduced.

6 The Wasp Hasn’t Met Many Avengers

The Wasp Was Introduced In Ant-Man 2015

Hope wearing her new yellow Wasp suit in Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania

In Marvel Comics, the Wasp is one of the founding members of the Avengers. However, in the MCU, she has played a much smaller role, mainly just appearing in the Ant-Man series, with a short cameo in Avengers: Endgame. Since Sam was the first Avenger to meet Ant-Man, and he recruited him for Team Cap in Civil War, he has probably come close to meeting the Wasp a few times. Though Hope will probably join Scott if Captain America calls on him for the new Avengers, it will be the first time Sam interacts with her directly.

5 Shang-Chi Is A New Addition To The MCU

Shang-Chi Was Introduced In Shang-Chi 2021

Shang-Chi fighting his father in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Shang-Chi is one of the newest heroes and has only been in one movie, meaning he hasn’t had a chance to meet too many others. Shang-Chi met Wong, who introduced him to Bruce Banner and Carol Danvers, meaning he has some Avengers connections. Though Bruce and Sam have barely spent any time together, Smart Hulk will likely still be on Captain America’s list of Avengers recruits. This gives Sam a connection with Shang-Chi, so there is a chance they will meet at some point down the line.

4 Spider-Man Has Met Sam, But Nobody Remembers

Spider-Man Was Introduced In Captain America: Civil War 2016

Tom Holland's Spider-Man stands in front of an American flag in Spider-Man: Homecoming

Technically, Sam Wilson met Spider-Man as soon as Spidey joined the MCU in Captain America: Civil War. However, Sam would no longer remember that interaction thanks to Doctor Strange’s spell in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which made everyone forget Peter Parker. The MCU hasn’t really tackled how the spell works, so Sam might know of Spider-Man, but he won’t remember having met Peter Parker. This means the two will need to be reintroduced at some point if Spider-Man is going to join the Avengers.

3 Ms. Marvel Is Just Starting To Join The Larger MCU

Ms. Marvel Was Introduced In Ms. Marvel 2022

The Marvels teased that Kamala Khan is planning to set up the Young Avengers with the help of Kate Bishop. However, that doesn’t mean she won’t also help out in a future Avengers movie. After all, she has gotten closer to Carol Danvers and met Nick Fury, so she has the right connections. Still, it’s hard to say if Sam Wilson will allow younger heroes into the team at all. Tony Stark caught some flak for recruiting Peter Parker in Civil War, so Ms. Marvel might have to wait a bit before Captain America invites her to join up.

2 Sam Hasn’t Met Valkyrie Or Any Asgardians

Valkyrie Was Introduced In Thor: Ragnarok 2017

Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie in Thor Love and Thunder

It shouldn’t be a huge surprise that Valkyrie and Sam never met, seeing as Sam never met Thor, either. Given her current position as King of New Asgard, however, it does seem likely that she’ll run into Captain America at some point. If Captain America: Brave New World follows the trend of previous Captain America movies dealing with political issues, it is possible Sam could run into Valkyrie on official business. After they meet, it’s likely Sam won’t say no to some help from a powerful Asgardian in the future.

1 Monica Rambeau Disappeared Shortly After Getting Powers

Monica Rambeau Was Introduced In Captain Marvel 2019

Monica Rambeau powering up as Photon in The Marvels

Monica Rambeau is a more recent addition to the MCU and only became a superhero even more recently. However, the end of The Marvels leaves Monica’s fate in question for now, seeing as she has been transported to another reality. Between Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, it would be strange not to see Monica in either crossover event. But, before she and Sam can meet, she will have to make her way back to the main MCU first.
