New BTS images from The Marvels reveal a cut costume upgrade for one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe heroines. Following her solo movie in 2019, Captain Marvel’s sequel finally arrived in 2023 in the form of The Marvels. While not a traditional sequel, The Marvels saw Captain Carol Danvers join forces with other MCU heroines as they took on the villainous Dar-Benn.

As of this month, The Marvels movie is officially streaming on Disney+, following its struggling performance at the box office. To celebrate The Marvels’ Disney+ arrival, Larson shared some new looks at the film on her Instagram.

One of the photos included in her gallery was a shot of Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel, in her new costume that made its debut in The Marvels. However, it appears Kamala’s new suit was supposed to come with a helmet, allowing her to breathe in space, but for unknown reasons, it wasn’t in the theatrical cut.

What Is Next For Captain Marvel & Ms. Marvel In The MCU?

Following The Marvels movie ending, Marvel Studios has been very quiet on what is next for Carol and Kamala. Presumably, the pair will work on finding a way to bring Monica Rambeau home, as Photon got stuck in another universe in the film’s finale. Whether or not that storyline gets more fleshed out off-screen remains to be seen.

In Carol’s case, Larson garnered some attention lately at this year’s SAG-Awards when she was asked about Carol’s future, as Larson cryptically said to Extra, “I don’t have anything to say about that.” As such, it remains to be seen when Captain Marvel will actually be back in the franchise, as it appears the actor either has not yet been in talks about Captain Marvel’s future, or otherwise is unable to comment on any prospective news regarding the character.

Meanwhile, Kamala is shown being in the process of building her Young Avengers team, but similar to Larson, Vellani doesn’t have any known MCU appearances coming up as of right now. With the possibility of a Ms. Marvel season 2 still unclear, time will tell if viewers may see her next in her own TV show again. But until they return, the MCU audience can relive Carol, Kamala, and Monica’s adventures in The Marvels.
