According to a recent report, a confirmed Marvel cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine may be far more consequential than expected. Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine is the first Deadpool movie in the MCU timeline and has prompted much excitement for incorporating characters and events from Fox’s comic book movies, most notably Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. While there have been numerous rumors and leaks regarding these, one cameo that has been long-confirmed could play a much more central role than previously presumed.

Deadpool & Wolverine has confirmed several cast members, including Reynolds as Deadpool, Jackman as Wolverine, and Morena Baccarin as Venessa. The movie is primed to conclude Fox’s X-Men universe. It was presumed that Jackman’s Wolverine would be the biggest player in the adventure. However, another of Fox’s classic superhero actors could be just as prominent.

Jennifer Garner as Elektra standing by a lake in Elektra

The US Copyright filing for Deadpool & Wolverine lists the movie’s main cast and includes Jennifer Garner as Elektra, far higher than many would have expected. Garner’s Elektra is listed fourth on the list, only beneath Reynolds, Jackman, and Baccarin. Garner is even listed above Deadpool & Wolverine‘s presumed antagonist, played by Emma Corrin. This suggests that Garner’s role in Deadpool & Wolverine will not be a single scene for a brief cameo, but a role far more integral to the plot.

Jennifer Garner’s Elektra first appeared in Fox’s 2003 movie Daredevil before receiving her own spin-off with 2005’s Elektra. Garner’s solo movie was the subject of much derision, which torpedoed any hope for a further movie in the series. Despite Elektra‘s unfavorable reviews, Garner’s performance was enjoyable and deserved a far better movie to flourish in. 19 years later, this will seemingly occur with Deadpool & Wolverine, which suggests Garner’s role will be far greater than the other Fox cameos expected in the movie.

Other Fox Movie Characters Confirmed To Return In Deadpool & Wolverine

Several returning characters from Fox’s extended X-Men universe are cast in Deadpool & Wolverine, as well as Deadpool and Venessa. Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Yukio, Colossus, and Shatterstar are notable X-Men characters reprising their roles from Fox’s Deadpool and Deadpool 2. Blind Al and Dopinder are set to appear, though Cable will not feature in Deadpool & Wolverine.

However, it’s the characters from Fox’s older comic book movies that are more exciting. Hugh Jackman agreed to reprise Wolverine, even after seemingly retiring from the role after Logan. Jackman’s costar from X2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand has also been confirmed, with Aaron Stanford appearing as Pyro in the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer. There are numerous other cameos rumored who will join Garner’s Elektra in the hotly anticipated sequel.
