A new team of Avengers comprised of multiversal superheroes comes together in MCU fan art to battle Marvel Studios’ next potential supervillain, the planet-eater Galactus. The MCU’s Avengers last joined forces during 2019’s Avengers: Endgame to reverse the devastation caused by Thanos and eliminate the Mad Titan once and for all. Since then, however, the status of the Avengers in the MCU has remained unclear, despite several new potential members being introduced during Phases 4 and 5. The team are expected to come together again for 2026’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, with the New Avengers team set to be pitted against Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror and his villainous variants.
MCU fan art shared by Moxon Edits suggests a brilliant line-up for the MCU’s New Avengers team, featuring the likes of Doctor Strange, Thor, Spider-Man, Ant-Man, and Captain Marvel, as well as multiversal heroes including Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Michael B. Jordan’s Human Torch, coming together to battle Galactus in a New Avengers project.
The line-up of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’s titular team has been a hot topic of discussion since Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige confirmed the project’s Phase 6 release in 2022. Following a recent report from Variety, Jonathan Majors’ role in The Kang Dynasty has also been disputed, but Galactus could be introduced as a perfect replacement.
How Galactus Could Replace Kang The Conqueror In The MCU
Variety’s report noted that Marvel Studios executives had been involved in meetings to discuss how to deal with the fallout from Jonathan Majors’ arrest and assault allegations in March 2023. This controversy put his role as the MCU’s Kang the Conqueror in jeopardy, though Variety’s report suggests that Marvel Studios considered replacing him with another iconic villain from Marvel Comics. While Doctor Doom is a possibility, Galactus and the Silver Surfer have been rumored to debut in Marvel Studios’ upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, so the planet-eater and his herald might be the perfect candidates to replace Kang the Conqueror, should Majors be removed.
Hailing from a time before the Big Bang and the emergence of the Marvel Universe, space explorer Galan merged with the Sentience of the Universe to become Galactus, a looming being who consumes entire worlds in order to sustain himself. Galactus employs heralds, including the Silver Surfer, to scout new worlds for him to devour, and in Marvel Comics, Earth falls in his crosshairs, though he is thwarted by the Fantastic Four. Galactus is an incredibly powerful supervillain who would be perfect to take over from Kang the Conqueror. If Galactus debuts in Fantastic Four, he will be primed to take on the MCU’s New Avengers team in Phase 6.
