How Deadpool 3’s Set Photos Revealing Spoilers Actually Helps The MCU Movie

Deadpool and Wolverine

While the initial group of set photos sparked positive reactions for Deadpool 3, namely giving the first look at Jackman in the classic Wolverine costume and fighting in the ruins of the 20th Century Fox logo, the Sabretooth images have sparked the question of potentially spoiling the movie’s fun. Considering the character hasn’t been seen on screen in 15 years since X-Men Origins: Wolverine, anticipation for his return has been high, though to see him killed off begs the question of how immediate it will be within the MCU movie. Additionally, the confirmation of any such major plot point runs the risk of ruining a character appearance ahead of time.

Deadpool 3 set photos have also seemingly confirmed the return of fellow X-Men villain Toad and the Fantastic Four’s Fantasticar appearing in the same area as the Sabretooth fight.

That being said, the leaked set photos revealing as much as they have about the plot could prove promising for Deadpool 3‘s chances at success. The similarly multiverse-focused Spider-Man: No Way Home memorably had various set photos leak well ahead of its release confirming the returns of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s respective webslingers, in spite of the former’s frequent denials of any such appearance. Additionally, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness saw the Illuminati’s arrival leaked ahead of time, while also sparking debates about Tom Cruise’s appearance as an alternate version of Iron Man, which ultimately proved to not be true.

These discussions among MCU fans led to both movies being some of the most successful in the franchise, with No Way Home garnering nearly $2 billion at the box office while the Doctor Strange sequel fell just shy of the $1 billion mark, bringing in over $300 million more than its predecessor. While the long wait for Deadpool 3 has already sparked expectations for it to perform well at the box office, especially after its predecessor became the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all-time at the time, igniting discussions among audiences over which other X-Men characters or previous Marvel actors could appear with the spoilery set photos could go a long way to really cementing its chances at success.
