  • The return of Daredevil and Kingpin in the MCU opens up the possibility for Jessica Henwick and Simone Missick’s characters to return and for the Daughters of the Dragon series to finally be realized.

Marvel Television’s canceled Daughters of the Dragon series has been brought to life in a new fan-made poster for an MCU reinvention of the show. Beginning with 2015’s Daredevil, Marvel Television developed a series of TV shows for Netflix, culminating in The Defenders, which brought Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, Mike Colter’s Luke Cage and Finn Jones’ Iron Fist together to battle the Hand. Netflix’s Marvel shows were very popular, displaying a more mature side to the MCU, but each was canceled in 2018 and 2019, and the canon status of Marvel’s Netflix shows has been disputed, though several actors have reprised their roles in the MCU proper.

Similarly to how Jon Bernthal’s portrayal of Frank Castle’s Punisher in Daredevil led to his own spinoff, Iron Fist’s Colleen Wing and Luke Cage’s Misty Knight were also set to helm their own Marvel Television spinoff, Daughters of the Dragon. Jessica Henwick and Simone Missick have now been imagined in a fan-made Daughters of the Dragon poster for the MCU, shared by Bensolo_cup.

Colleen Wing and Misty Knight are depicted in their comic-accurate costumes in the fan-made Daughters of the Dragon poster, fit with Colleen Wing’s chi-powered sword and Misty Knight’s enhanced robotic arm, though it’s unclear whether the pair will ever actually be seen together in the MCU’s future.

Daredevil’s MCU Return Can Bring In The MCU’s First Real Female Superteam

With Daredevil and Kingpin entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a Daughters of the Dragon female team series can finally become a possibility.

What We Know About The MCU’s Daughters Of The Dragon TV Show

In September 2018, Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb stated that a Daughters of the Dragon series was on the cards for Netflix’s Defenders Saga, following Jessica Henwick and Simone Missick’s debuts in Iron Fist and Luke Cage, respectively. The pair fought together for the first time in The Defenders, and Missick joined the cast of Iron Fist season 2 in 2018 ahead of development on the spinoff, though Iron Fist was canceled that October, and the other Marvel Television series’ soon followed suit. Plans for a Daughters of the Dragon spinoff were reiterated by Daredevil and Luke Cage director Marc Jobst in a 2023 interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Yes, absolutely. There was some relationship building in the episode, starting with the boxing ring training. That culminated in Colleen deliberately leading Misty into a fight to get over her self-pity, knowing that Misty would rise to it, which she did. The two of them going off into the smoke and bokeh as a definite twosome was a nod to the potential of Daughters of the Dragon.

Although Marvel Television’s fan-favorite characters’ fates were left hanging in the balance for quite some time, the MCU’s Phase 4 featured the returns of Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil, and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin. Appearances in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Hawkeye, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Marvel Studios’ upcoming Echo series lead into their starring spots in Phase 5’s Daredevil: Born Again, where they’ll also be joined by Jon Bernthal, reprising his role of the Punisher. This creates the opportunity for Henwick and Missick’s returns to the MCU as Colleen Wing and Misty Knight, potentially bringing the Daughters of the Dragon to life after half a decade.
