Prior to the launch of the MCU, there were a handful of Marvel movies in the early 2000s. The Fantastic Four movie from 2005 was one of the popular superhero films prior to the Marvel Studios franchise that exists today.

Recently on X, a user named @ClobberinTyme shared a compilation video of the original Fantastic Four movie cast highlighting the comedic chemistry between Chiklis as The Thing and Evans as Johnny Storm. Chiklis ended up seeing the video, and gave a brief reaction to it.

Not only did he “appreciate it,” but Chiklis acknowledged how they “had fun,” shooting Fantastic Four and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. While Chiklis didn’t get another Marvel role like Evans did, he did have a regular role in the DC TV show, Gotham.

Everything We Know About Marvel’s Fantastic Four Reboot

The MCU is bringing a new version of the Fantastic Four as part of its Multiverse Saga, and here’s what you need to know about this reboot.

What’s Going On With The MCU’s Fantastic Four Reboot?

When it comes to the MCU, the Fantastic Four property is getting rebooted under Marvel Studios, but the road to their movie has run into a few blocks along the way, despite being slated for a 2025 release. The last significant update that emerged about the new Fantastic Four movie was that Pedro Pascal was being eyed to play Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic. However, at the time of this article’s publication, Marvel Studios has yet to comment on Pascal’s potential MCU role, suggesting that it is either not true or a deal is not locked yet.

In the meantime, the Fantastic Four rumor mill has been more intense than usual as several actors continue to be named as up for roles like Sue Storm and Human Torch. The only aspect of the film that has been confirmed is Matt Shakman’s involvement as the director, while the script is being written by Cameron Squires and Josh Friedman. It’s possible that Marvel is planning to announce the entire Fantastic Four cast once they have all four leads locked in for the MCU.

Production on Fantastic Four is rumored to start sometime in the spring of 2024, but that has yet to be confirmed by Marvel Studios.

Given how crucial Fantastic Four is to the Marvel brand, it is understandable why it is taking so long for Marvel Studios to finalize the main cast. The Fantastic Four movie will be one of the most important chapters for the MCU going forward, especially as they get to the end of the Multiverse Saga. Hopefully, there will be more news on the Fantastic Four reboot sooner rather than later.
