With Deadpool 3 wrapping filming recently, Fantastic Four star Michael Chiklis now sets the record straight on whether he is reprising the role of Ben Grimm, a.k.a. The Thing, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Wade Wilson is getting ready to finally enter the MCU as Deadpool 3 will not only finish his trilogy but integrate him into the larger franchise. Since Deadpool 3 will be one of the few Marvel movies to release in 2024, the expectations are higher than ever for the only Phase 5 film of the year.

With the Deadpool 3 story being kept under wraps for the most part, there has been speculation about whether they are paying homage to past Fox Marvel movies. As a supposed set photo surfaced of Chiklis filming on Deadpool 3, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the situation.

Despite it looking like him in a bodysuit as The Thing next to Deadpool, Chiklis stressed that “This is a FAKE. Sorry to disappoint.” The Fantastic Four veteran also added, “I do know who they’re casting though. Not my place to tell but I will say this. I’m a fan of his work and I wish him luck and success with it,” teasing the new MCU movie.

A user, Robby, posted a photo in the replies, which illustrates that the image shared by Chiklis was an edited set photo from Deadpool 2.

2000s Fantastic Four In Deadpool 3 Rumors Explained

As principal photography wrapped very recently, there have been clues through Deadpool 3 set photos that have suggested that the 2000s Fantastic Four movie series will be revisited. During the shoot, a vehicle that looks identical to the famous Fantasticar from the comics was spotted on set, with the Fantastic Four logo visible at the front. While none of the heroes were seen driving it, it did feature Toad from the original X-Men movie, although how he plays into the scene remains to be seen.

Deadpool 3 is seemingly bidding farewell to Fox’s Marvel universe, as Jennifer Garner’s Elektra is reported to return, while various elements of the past X-Men movies are being referenced. The popular theory floating around is that Deadpool 3 will be doing its own take on Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe, by essentially ending Fox’s Marvel properties before he joins the MCU. If any of the other original Fantastic Four actors are actually in the movie, it is very likely that the Deadpool 3 production had them film their material inside the studio in order to prevent further leaks.

As absurd as it would be to see Deadpool kill the Fox universe, it would also be in character for him to finish that franchise with a bang. With the amount of secrecy surrounding Deadpool 3, time will tell what major surprises they have in store for the MCU audience. Hopefully, if the rumors are true that a Deadpool 3 trailer is dropping this weekend during the Super Bowl, the world will finally get a glimpse of Reynolds’ latest Marvel adventure.
